Sam LaBarbera was elected to the Board in April 1989. He served as Chairman of the Personnel and Public Safety and Health Committees and a member of the Rules and Ordinance Committee and Public Works committees.

A lifelong resident of the village since 1963. LaBarbera is an attorney. He served as an Administrative Law Judge for The Illinois Department of Employment Security. He has coached in the Elmwood Park Rush Football league for 5 years, while his three sons played in the program.

He attended St Vincent Ferrer grade school. He is a graduate of Elmwood Park High School, Loyola University, and the Loyola University School of Law.

Sam served six terms, with twenty-four years of experience.

Sam has voiced different opinions on various issues that have come before the Village Board and has voted independently against the controlling majority.
