Agenda and Platform
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. ELIMINATE WASTE AND UNNECESSARY SPENDING.
Continue to pursue all eligible grants and funding available to the village for qualified projects and improvements. Cut the “fat” and unnecessary spending in the budget.
FAIRNESS AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Competitive bidding for major projects, contracts and services for the best possible costs and savings to the taxpayer.” Campaign contributions or favoritism should not influence awards when the same can be performed at a lower bid.
CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
The appearance of impropriety should be avoided by the Board members. Board members who will benefit from Village resources and awards of “Buddy Contracts,” and services, to friends and family, should be removed from the decision-making process.
TRANSPARENCY AND OPEN DISCUSSION.
The Board meetings are simply a rubber stamp. A look at the past videos will show there is no explanation, questions or discussion of the contracts, ordinances or village business conducted by the Board. Residences are stifled and compelled to accept their decisions.
EXPLORE AND EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN.
Promote and help support athletic leagues and programs for kid’s, teens, adults and seniors. Sam’s commitment to this is demonstrated by the development of The La Frambois Center, the Library, the Community Recreation Center, Aquatic Center, Central Park, Centennial Park, Thorpe Park, Armitage Park and the Skate Park. All developed while Sam was a Trustee, working together with the Board for an aggressive agenda for community development. (See the Accomplishments and Gallery in this site).
INDEPENDENCE OF THE CANDIDATE.
The public record will show in the minutes of the 2113th Board meeting on June 18th, 2012, Independence from the Board.
Sam LaBarbera was the only Trustee that did not vote to hire Mr. Paul Volpe as Village Manager.
